The day will start off with a grassland meadow habitat walk in the morning from 11am \u2013 1pm, followed by refreshments and snacks in the upstairs classroom at the visitor centre, leading straight into the creative workshop 2pm \u2013 4pm, where participants will be making the summer selection of plant prints on fabric. New and returning participants welcome! FREE entry, no booking required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sunday 3<sup>rd<\/sup> August<\/strong>, free wild flower seed collecting from 11.30am-1pm, followed by pond dipping activities from 2pm-3.30pm.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Monday 4<sup>th <\/sup>August, \u2013 FREE Dark Sky themed LEGO event, 11am- 4pm<\/strong>. This time the theme is \u201cConstellation of Cottages\u201d. Help us build unique cottages in our Dark Sky Park, just like the real ones in Wild Nephin. Illuminate each cottage in a dark-sky friendly way, in celebration of our award winning \u2018Dark Sky Place of the Year 2024. No booking required and all welcome.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wild Child Kids Club &nbsp;<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Every <strong>Tuesday and Thursday 2pm-4pm. booking essential: <\/strong>To book, please email ballycroyvisitorcentre@npws.gov.ie with your name, child\u2019s name and age and a contact phone number. Suitable clothing advised for all weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>August&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\uf0be Tuesday 5<sup>th<\/sup> <strong>Plant Power<\/strong> &#8211; take a closer look at our amazing native plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\uf0be Thursday 7<sup>th<\/sup> <strong>Habitat Homes<\/strong> \u2013 from bog pools to wild meadows and native woodlands.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\uf0be Tuesday 12<sup>th<\/sup> <strong>Hedgerows<\/strong><strong> and Hedge schools<\/strong> \u2013 the importance of hedgerows for nature and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\uf0be Thursday 14<sup>th<\/sup> <strong>Native Trees<\/strong> &#8211; follow the journey of a tree, from a tiny seed to a giant in a Native woodland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\uf0be Tuesday 19<sup>th<\/sup> <strong>Mini Beast Safari<\/strong> \u2013 come explore a hidden world of amazing creatures that live all around us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\uf0be Thursday 21<sup>st<\/sup> <strong>Brilliant Bats<\/strong> &#8211; learn about our beautiful bats and how we can help them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our <strong>FREE <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalparks.ie\/wild-nephin\/free-shuttle-bus-service\/\"><strong>shuttle bus service<\/strong><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalparks.ie\/wild-nephin\/free-shuttle-bus-service\/\"> <\/a>operates Tuesday to Saturday between Bangor and Westport, with stop-off points at Newport, Letterkeen, Mulranny, Claggan Mountain Coastal Trail, and the Ballycroy Visitor Centre, until 30<sup>th<\/sup> August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Friday the 15<sup>th<\/sup> August, 10am<\/strong> <strong>from Letterkeen Trailhead Car Park<\/strong> join us for a trek up to Jamsies Well for a <strong>HER Outdoors<\/strong> event. To book, please email ballycroyvisitorcentre@npws.gov.ie with your name, and contact number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Heritage Week 2025<\/u><\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Saturday the 16<sup>th<\/sup> of August, Boxty in the Bothy and Dancing at the Crossroads, 1pm- 4pm, All Welcome<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Join us at the Bothy in Letterkeen (in Shramore) beside the old crossroad that met the Bangor Trail. This was the old route into The Barony of Erris long before the modern road network was installed. Here we will have a gathering of the locals from the surrounding valleys as we celebrate our culture. There will be Irish dancing and music and traditional home-made boxy available for everyone to enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sunday 24<sup>th<\/sup> August, Home to Erris, 1pm- 4pm, All Welcome<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Join us as we celebrate a gathering at the old herd\u2019s cottage up in Tarsaghaun on the northern section of the Bangor Trail. Here we will be joined by locals from Kiltane and Ballycroy as we come together in the old cottage beside the river as the Bangor trail takes us \u2018Home to Erris\u2019. This will be the rambling house experience as we come together to tell stories, sing a few songs and celebrate the people who went before us.
