Heritage Week 2023

Summary

Heritage Week runs from 12th to 20th August.
We have events running every day, which will take place in the National Park, unless otherwise stated.
All events are free of charge.

Saturday 12th August

11am-4pm Wool Experience Demonstration, Spinning and Weaving

12noon “Focus On” Talk – Ringforts

4pm Afternoon Talk – Archaeology of the Park

Sunday 13th August

11am Guided Walk (weather permitting)

2pm “Focus On” Talk – Ringforts

1pm-2.30pm Traditional Irish Music

3.30pm Marconi Walk (Please note: this walk will take place at the Derrigimlagh Site, south of Clifden on the Ballyconneely Road. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing as sections of the walk are on uneven terrain). For further information, please call 095 41054.

6pm Marconi Talk by John Hannon in the Audio Visual Theatre at the National Park.

Monday 14th August

11am-4pm Dry Stonewall Building Demonstration

12noon “Focus On” Talk – Hares

3pm Traditional Boxty Making Demonstration.

Tuesday 15th August

11am Raven Ramblers Childrens Activities. (Please note: activities are suitable for children aged 7 years and over. Adult must stay with child/children at all times).

11am-4pm Dry Stonewall Building Demonstration.

Wednesday 16th August

11am-4pm Dry Stonewall Building Demonstration.

11am Guided Bog Walk (weather permitting). This walk covers wet, boggy terrain, please wear suitable footwear and clothing.

2pm Afternoon Talk – The Great Yellow Bumblebee.

7pm Evening Talk – Mountain Safety and the History of the Galway Mountain Rescue Team.

8.30pm Bat Talk and Walk.

Thursday 17th August

11am-4pm Dry Stonewall Building Demonstration.

11am Guided Walk (weather permitting).

2pm “Focus On” Talk – Ringforts.

Friday 18th August

11am-4pm Dry Stonewall Building Demonstration.
