Guided Hikes in Wild Nephin National Park

We have a number of guided hikes through Wild Nephin National Park this summer.

We are teaming up with Wild Atlantic Nature for a guided hike of the Owenduff Bog to mark International Bog Day. Taking place on Sunday 23rd of July, starting at 9.30am, this is a strenuous walk that will bring you to the most remote parts of Wild Nephin National Park via Scardaun and the Bangor Trail. Find out what makes Wild Nephin National Park so special.

We are also hosting two Ranger Led Hikes. To celebrate World Ranger Day we will be taking on Nephin Beg in the heart of Wild Nephin National Park on Sunday July 30th, starting at 9.30am. Most of this walk is off track, but you will be rewarded with experiences of some of the most remote lands in Ireland. For Heritage Week, on Thursday August 17th, we will be heading to Jamsie’s Well, with the walk taking in old forestry roads and clearings, passing by the renowned well with stunning views across the Nephin Forest.

All of these walks are considered strenuous. Good fitness is a must and appropriate rainwear, boots and supplies (packed lunch + 2L water) are essential. To book please phone 098 49888 or email ballycroyvisitorcentre@npws.gov.ie
