Park Notice
Orange – High Fire Risk Warning has been extended until April 14th. Please note that there is no camping permitted in the national park at this time. Investigation underway following the outbreak of a significant fire at Wild Nephin National Park
This weekend saw several NPWS managed sites around Wild Nephin National Park affected by major fire incidents. A fire has completely destroyed the Claggan Boardwalk, and a separate fire is ongoing at the forest at Letterkeen. The Minister of State for Nature, Heritage and Biodiversity, Christopher O’Sullivan, TD, today (April 4th) joined communities in Wild Nephin National Park, Co Mayo at a special event celebrating the International Dark Sky Place of the Year award for Mayo Dark Sky Park. Wildfire Alert
Please note that a large forest fire that started last night is burning its way through the Nephin Forest at Letterkeen on the east side of the national park.
