Flood Warning at Killarney

Many of the trails and walking paths in Killarney National Park are badly flooded, especially Ross Island, Muckross, Dinis, Reen and Knockreer.  Rainfall is well above average.  Please be careful and dress accordingly if venturing out.

Virtual Treasure Trail – Wanderful Christmas Digital App

The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) in association with Christmas in Killarney is excited to bring a virtual Christmas treasure trail to Killarney this year. Wanderful Christmas is a digital orienteering experience that enables families to look for markers placed around the town and National Park and when discovered, meet hidden virtual Christmas characters.

Surface improvements in Mission Road/Knockreer Area

Killarney National Park has embarked on the next phase of  surface improvements to paths and roadways in the Mission Road/Knockreer area. The roadworks will carried out over the next 5 weeks to Christmas. Users of the National Park in this area, are asked  to avoid the roadworks insofar as possible and obey the road closure

Warning Potential for Algal Bloom

Algal growth has been identified along part of the shoreline of Lough Leane in Killarney.  Precautionary signage has been erected at locations around Lough Leane and visitors are advised to exercise caution, not to bathe in the waters and are advised to please keep dogs away from the water.
