Connemara National Park Bog Week, May 25th to June 1st 2026

All events are free of charge and will take place or start in Connemara National Park, for more information and bookings, please call 095 41054 or email siobhan.geoghegan@npws.gov.ie.

Bookings for all events should be made on or before May 20th at 5pm.

Good walking shoes/boots and appropriate clothing for the weather are advised.

Deirdre Stephens Exhibition “PORTACH” – Wall Hanging – in the Visitor Centre from May 25th to June 1st.

Tuesday, 26th May

5.30am Dawn Chorus with Ranger Dermot Breen. Meet in the Park car park at 5.30am. Tea/coffee and scones/toast available after the event in the Hungry Hiker Cafe. Booking is essential.

11am – 1pm Mixed Media Collage – Bog themed workshop with Deirdre Stephens, Textile Artist. this is an adult only event and booking is essential.

12 noon and 3pm – Roundstone Bog Film in AV Building.

Wednesday, 27th May

2pm Site visit to John O’Sullivan’s Farm in Oughterard. A 1 hour walk and talk to explore the Alternative Practices, Paludiculture and Vision for the decades ahead for a peatland farm. Free bus from Connemara National Park, departing at 2pm from the main car park. Booking is essential.

12 noon and 3pm Roundstone Bog Film in AV Building.

Saturday, 30th May

!0am Conference with guest speakers, Dermot Tiernan, Coillte, Verena Berard, and Margaret Flaherty, Wild Atlantic Nature.

11.45am Guided Flower Walk and Talk with Aedín Ní Thiarnaigh.

1.45pm Bog Restoration Project in Connemara National Park with Eamonn McLoughlin, Park Ranger, and Dúlra Team members, Dermot Flaherty and Robbie McDonagh. Followed by a walk to the bog restoration site.

Sunday, 31st May

11.30am Guided Walk

12 noon to 1.30pm Afternoon music in the courtyard.

2.30pm Children’s Scavenger Hunt. Children must be accompanied by parent/adult at all times.

Monday, 1st June

Tae on the Bog and Rambling Road Event, starting at 11am, with storytelling, music, tea and biscuits and a guided walk.

3pm Roundstone Bog Film in the AV Building.
