Woodland Management

If you have passed Glenveagh National Park recently, you may have noticed some changes close to the park entrance.

Works progressed last week to remove stands of non-native conifers along the main road (R251) passing Glenveagh National Park. The non-native conifer trees have been removed as part of the Glenveagh Woodland Management Strategy and they will be replaced by native tree species grown in the Glenveagh tree nursey. Although the landscape may look different in the short term, these actions will create healthier and more resilient woodlands for the future.

For more information, the Glenveagh Woodland Strategy is available for download on our website – www.nationalparks.ie/glenveagh/ for further reading.
