Native Tree Walk

Join a National Parks & Wildlife Service guide to discover how to identify some of our native trees growing in the Upper Lake area of Glendalough. We will also talk about tree ecology and folklore. There will be an option at the end to see regeneration of native woodland within a tree ex-closure.

When: Sunday 27th September 2026 at 11am

Duration: approx. 90 minutes.

Where: National Park Information Office, Upper Lake, Glendalough, A98R221.

Parking: Parking is available at the County Council Upper Lake Car Park, A98W778 (charges apply).

Practicalities: walking in the valley floor along hard surfaced paths and areas of grass. The option to visit a tree ex-closure involves a steepish hike. Dress for the outdoors and bring waterproofs just in case. This is a free event. Except for guide or assistance dogs, dogs are not permitted on National Park events.
