Heritage Week 2025

Saturday the 16th of August, Boxty in the Bothy and Dancing at the Crossroads, 1pm- 4pm, All Welcome

Join us at the Bothy in Letterkeen (in Shramore) beside the old crossroad that met the Bangor Trail. This was the old route into The Barony of Erris long before the modern road network was installed. Here we will have a gathering of the locals from the surrounding valleys as we celebrate our culture. There will be Irish dancing and music and traditional home-made boxy available for everyone to enjoy.

Sunday 24th August, Home to Erris, 1pm- 4pm, All Welcome

Join us as we celebrate a gathering at the old herd’s cottage up in Tarsaghaun on the northern section of the Bangor Trail. Here we will be joined by locals from Kiltane and Ballycroy as we come together in the old cottage beside the river as the Bangor trail takes us ‘Home to Erris’. This will be the rambling house experience as we come together to tell stories, sing a few songs and celebrate the people who went before us. Bus leaves outside Bangor Erris National School at 11.30am and Ballycroy Visitor Centre at 12.00pm.

These are FREE events open to the public and an opportunity to celebrate our history, our culture and our people.
